BOOKS
Cancer challenges us to explore all levels of our healing resources; the mind, heart, body and spirit.  While these aspects of ourselves strongly effect each other, they each have their own wisdom and inner healer.  The following selection of books takes you through the mind, heart, body and spirit offering the insights and research that can help you make decisions and actively, knowledgably engage in your own healing journey.  All books have been chosen for their integrated approach to cancer.

Physical Healing           Emotional Healing            Spiritual Healing          Mental Healing

PHYSICAL HEALING    Your body is constantly working to correct the imbalance in your system and rid you of the cancer cells.  In fact, your body's inner healer is a major resource for you in healing.  Cancer is a indication that our immune system is exhausted and needs your help. The following books provide information on how to support the inner healing process.

Dr. Susan Loves Breast Book,  Susan M. Love, M.D.   This is a bible for the woman with breast cancer.  It acquaints women with the many aspects of their breasts, includes information on prevention, and takes them through the point of diagnosis of breast cancer, through the variety of treatments and their effects, to living with cancer.

The Body Knows:  How to Tune Into Your Body and Improve Your Health, Caroline M. Sutherland  This book is based on a deep belief that there is inherent wisdom in the body and that it not only knows what you need to heal but will communicate that to you if you just pay attention and know how to listen.

Cancer: An Integrative Approach, John A. Catanzaro, N.D.  This is a very helpful guide to exploring how to combine conventional and alternative treatments for cancer.  Those of the Christian faith will be interested in Dr. Catanzaro's biblical references throughout his writings.

90 Day Immune System Makeover, Janet Maccaro, PhD, CNC,   Cancer is a breakdown of the natural healing system, your immune system. This valuable book guides the reader through a process of healing and enhancing the immune system to support the inner healing that is a critical aspect of the cancer healing journey.

Energy Healing  Energy medicine has been called the medicine of the 21st century.  It draws on ancient wisdom, including the Chinese philosophy of healing, combining it with breakthrough technology.

Virtual Medicine: A New Dimension in Energy Healing, Dr. Keith Scott-Mumby  Dr.Scott-Mumby is well known, internationally, for his groundbreaking work in environmental and allergy medicine.  This book guides the reader to a new awareness of the biological energy fields surrounding the body and how they can be beneficial in treating diseases.  Energy medicine has been called the medicine of the 21st century.   You will receive a fascinating introduction to treatments that can support your healing journey.x

Nutrition  The Surgeon General estimates that 66% to 70% of cancer is a result of poor diet.  There are many books addressing diet for cancer and many nutritionists ready to help the person diagnosed with cancer.   Be aware that, while "The Standard American Diet" (SAD) has been shown to be highly carcinogenic and a diet based on fruits and vegetables can play an important role in healing from cancer, there is no one diet that is right for everyone.  Some people with certain blood types thrive on a vegetarian diet while others need some meat in their diet.  Pay attention to how your body responds to the cancer, read the books carefully and ask your nutritionist about what is right for you.

When Hope Never Dies, Marlene McKenna    We put this under nutrition because it is a powerful story of how a macrobiotic diet played a major role in saving the life of a woman who was told by her doctors that there was not hope and she would die within a year.  She also shares with the reader the lack of enthusiasm and naysaying of her doctors even as the cancer had disappeared. A powerful and empowering book.

Mental Healing        What your mind tells you about the cancer diagnosis and about who you are as a person can play a critical role in your healing journey.  In fact, research has shown that your attitude toward your cancer treatment has more of an impact on treatment outcome than does the severity of the disease.  The following books both offer a guide to developing a healing attitude as well as help you with practical, information that can give you a greater sense of control.
